Tyre & Industries Ltd, pioneers of radial tyres in India, has received ‘2015 Silver Level Certification in its
Supplier Quality Excellence Process’ by Caterpillar earlier today. The
award has been conferred upon JK Tyre’s Mysore OTR manufacturing facility in recognition
of its high levels of quality, process control, delivery and performance that
helps enhance productivity and thereby, value to end-users. The facility is also the recipient of the
prestigious ‘Golden Peacock Environment Award’ in the year 2011.
Caterpillar’s Supplier Quality Excellence
Process or SQEP is aimed at recognizing suppliers that demonstrate their
commitment to excellence, and drive a "zero defects" culture within
their organizations. SQEP certification requires suppliers to adhere to
stringent supplier performance standards. The parameters include product
quality and shipping performance that SQEP measures over a course of a 12-month
period.

Tyre’s Mysore plant was commissioned in the year 2009 and is among the most technologically
advanced tyre manufacturing facilities in the country. It went under capacity
expansion in 2012 and today produces 1.06
million tyres annually. The plant also manufactures India’s largest tyre,
VEM 045, a 12 feet high, 3.7 tonnes tyre, especially built for the biggest rigid
dump-truck in India.
