Volkswagen Polo celebrates its 40th birthday with a special edition

After 40 years of a fascinating small-car history and more than 14 million vehicles sold, the Volkswagen Polo is now available as a limited premium special edition model:
beginning today, Polo fans can purchase one of just 1,000 Polo "Original" models in Germany.

The clearly distinctive features of the four-door Polo "Original" include door mirror caps in body colour, smoked rear lights, the Polo "Original" emblem on the wings and "Original" lettering on the door sill plates. The vehicle's modern exterior is rounded out by LED headlights, a high-gloss black radiator grille and 16-inch "Portago" alloy wheels. Some of the cars are also available in exclusive Honey Orange Metallic paintwork.

The high-quality interior features a multifunction steering wheel and a gear lever knob and handbrake grip in leather with "Truffle" coloured stitching. In a tribute to the first-ever Polo, the limited edition models boast black/orange sports seats with a tartan design, as well as faux leather side bolsters and headrests. The interior has also been visibly upgraded through the inclusion of special paintwork accents and pedals with an aluminium look.

The Climatronic climate control system, a hands-free unit and the MEDIA-IN multimedia socket are all available as standard equipment. The Front Assist ambient traffic monitoring system with the City Emergency Braking feature can help reduce the likelihood of a collision, or even prevent one altogether. The Rear View reversing camera makes parking easier by displaying the area behind the vehicle on the radio/navigation system screen.

The Polo Original, which comes in six engine-gearbox variants, is available from €19,950. In other words, along with the exclusivity the model offers, customers can also benefit from a discount of €1,119 as compared to a similarly equipped production model.
