Dr. Raghupati Singhania joins JK Tyre as Chairman and Managing Director

August, 31^st August, 2015: Tire Industry Association (TIA) announced Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. as a recipient of “Hall of Fame” 2015. TIA honors the contribution of significant players in the industry globally.

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is an international non-profit association representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry. TIA is the leading authority in the tire industry for advocacy and training.  TIA has over 7,000 members from all 50 states and around the globe.

Dr. Raghupati Singhania said, “I am very happy to be inducted in the prestigious ‘Hall of Fame’. This honour is a recognition of the entire tyre industry. I am humbled, and it makes me believe that India is ready to be a more significant part of the global trajectory of progress.”

TIA has recognized Dr. Raghupati Singhania for his distinguished and exemplary service towards the growth and development of the Indian tyre industry. JK Tyre has a presence in 100 countries, operates 9 plants and produces 20 million tires annually. Under his leadership, JK Tyre pioneered radial technology in India in 1977. He has also established six state-of-the-art research and development centers, five in India and one in Mexico, to develop technologically advanced products. He played a key role in establishing The Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer and Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI).

Dr. Raghupati Singhania has always believed in questioning convention on its head to break new grounds. From product development to helping change the consumer trends, he has pushed the envelope every time. He has held leadership roles for numerous industry organizations including the Indian Rubber Manufacturers Research Association (IRMRA) - President, the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) - Chairman.  He is serving various Apex Industry bodies - the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Member of National Council, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) – Past President & Senior Member of Managing Committee, the Indo American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IACC) – Past President of North India Council and Senior Member, and number of government bodies and panels. He is the recipient of the “Hall of Fame – Corporate Icon of the Year, 2011”; “Inspirational Leader of New India” -2013; ‘Admired Leader of Asia- 2014-15’ awards.
